Jessica Grace Coleman, freelance book editor
Hello, I'm Jessica Grace Coleman.
I'm a published author and an experienced book editor providing book editing services and proofreading. I have spent years helping thousands of writers shape their ideas into clear, powerful and confident stories.
I know how personal this is. You're not just handing over a document. You're sharing a piece of yourself.
That's why I work in a way that feels safe, collaborative and completely judgement-free.
I've published twelve books of my own — novels, short story collections, and non-fiction — and my debut novel The Former World reached number one on Amazon in its genre. So I understand the writing process from both sides.
I'm based in the Midlands in England and work remotely with authors all over the world.
I Understand the Fears You Might Have
Most writers feel the same worries when they reach this stage. You might recognise some of these.
"What if my writing isn't good enough?"
Many authors tell me they felt like this. It's completely normal. I'm here to strengthen your work and make you feel confident in what you've created.
"What if the editor changes my voice?"
Your voice stays yours. My job is to enhance clarity, flow and impact while preserving the tone and personality that make your writing unique.
"What if I don't understand the editing process?"
Once you get in touch, I explain everything in simple terms and guide you step by step. No jargon, no mystery.
These fears are common. They're also easy to overcome once you know what the journey looks like.

What My Clients Say
These writers came to me with the same worries you may have now, and left with manuscripts they were proud to share.
I sent Jessica an 80 page document in my own words which I and most others considered a complete jumble in just about every possible way, it really did need an expert to sort it out. She returned to me a perfect document which was clear and precise. I am most grateful.
Roy Dyer, MBE
I have to say, what Jessica has done is amazing. So incredibly pleased would be an understatement. I feel like I struck gold. She has quite simply taken my book to the next level.
Lily Lourde
Author
I could not have found a better editing service for my work — clear and thorough, and with an understanding of the content and a comprehensive and sympathetic eye to detail in the editing.
Christine Yeats
Author
Jessica's ability to proofread and edit a manuscript in a timely, cost-effective and professional manner is superior to most other editors I have used. Her timeliness, adherence to deadlines, communication and punctuality surpassed my expectations.
Global Village Publications
I have had the pleasure of working with Jess on three of my books, and I can confidently say that she is the only editor I will trust with my writing. Her professionalism, communication, and expertise have been consistently exceptional throughout every project.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my writing confidential?
Yes. Everything you send me stays completely private. I never share your work with anyone.
Will you judge my writing?
Never. My role is to improve your work, not judge it. I work with authors at every level and every manuscript gets the same care and respect.
Will my voice stay intact?
Yes. I edit to strengthen your writing, not to change who you are as a writer. You'll always have the final say on every suggestion.
Can you work with tight deadlines?
Often, yes — though there may be an added premium fee for very short turnarounds. Get in touch and we can discuss your timeline.
Can I start with something small?
Of course. I offer a free sample edit so you can see how I work before committing to a full project.
Do we have to edit my entire book at once?
Not at all. Some authors have chapters edited as they go along to make sure they're on track, with a final pass at the end.
Ready to Get Started?
